Obituary for Julia Martinez Cavazos
Julia Martinez Cavazos, age 97, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026. She was born in Rockdale, Texas, to her loving parents Antonio and Rosa Martinez.
Julia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother whose life was defined by her deep love for family, her faith, and her joyful spirit. She had a lifelong passion for music and dance, and she cherished every opportunity to attend dances, listen to music, and share the dance floor with anyone who wished to join her. Family gatherings were among her greatest joys, especially when she could cook for the entire family.
A woman of strong faith, Julia was deeply committed to her church. She especially treasured the annual pilgrimage to the San Juan Shrine in San Juan, Texas, and she looked forward each year to Holy Thursday, when she visited seven churches—often bringing along her children or grandchildren.
Julia is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 49 years, Santos “Jimmy” Cavazos, her parents Antonio and Rosa Martinez, her daughter Julia Estrada, and her brother Prudencio Martinez.
She is loved and will be deeply missed by her children:
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jay, Joey, Juanito, Jeremy, and Jimmy, as well as her granddaughters‑in‑law Rosie, Betty, Amber, Ester and her great‑grandchildren Julia, Jonathon, Shannon, Juanito III, Joshua, Star and Theodore and other, great grand-children -in law, Taylor, April, Bob, great- great grandchildren Avery and Kathleen.
The family extends special thanks to Lopez Home Caretakers and Hospice (Amber) for the compassionate care they provided to Julia.
