Obituary

Julio Nogueira passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 10, 2023, after a warm and loving visit with his adoring family in San Antonio, TX.  He was 93 years old.  Julio was born in Robstown, TX on December 4, 1929.

Julio was a patriot who served the nation with a distinguished 21-year career in the U.S. Army spanning years under four U.S. Presidents.  He joined the army in 1947 at age 17 after previously attempting to join in 1945 to serve in WWII. Julio served two years in the Korean War as an airborne infantryman.  He then became one of the first members of the army's newly formed Special Forces (Green Berets).  He served in combat in Korea, Laos, Vietnam and the Dominican Republic.  He was awarded the Bronze Star in Vietnam.  He loved the U.S. Army.

Julio met and was smitten by the love of his life, Lilia T. Resendiz, in the summer of 1953 and they were married soon after.  They enjoyed 63 years of marriage, in which Lilia preceded him in death in 2017.  He retired from his proud service in the army and began a successful 21-year career in the U.S. Postal Service.

Throughout his long life, Julio enjoyed spending time with his family creating loving memories with them through fishing and camping. He really enjoyed his cars and trucks.  He also treasured time spent with his many grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by all.  Although saddened, his family is content and joyful in the knowledge that the Lord has called Julio home to reunite with Lilia and enjoy the honeymoon they never got to experience in this world, forever more.

Julio will be loved always and missed by his children, Jeanette Frago, Cynthia N. Mitchell (Jerry), Daniel J. Nogueira (Maria), Ruben A. Nogueira (Joan), Carlos O. Nogueira (Penny) and Adan R. Nogueira, in addition to 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous other family members.
