Obituary

Leonardo H. Teniente, age 74, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on January 23, 2026 at his home. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Leonardo was born on December 7, 1951 in San Antonio, Texas to Leonardo C. and Grace Teniente. Raised on San Antonio's Westside, he grew up as the only male surrounded by his mother and seven sisters. He attended Sidney Lanier High School and later proudly served in the United States Army. He always spoke fondly of the travels and experiences the Army provided him. After his service, he established a long and successful career with the San Antonio Housing Authority.
Leo, as known by most, had a true gift and passion for working on cars - you could always find him under the hood tinkering on someone's car. He loved "jamming out" to oldies and rock & roll while working on those cars or when reminiscing.
He was known for his quick wit, sharp sense of humor, impeccable organization, and his dedication to staying in touch with lifelong friends, neighbors, new friends, and family. A devoted fan of the San Antonio Spurs, he rarely missed a game. He also enjoyed watching boxing and football and found peace on quiet days spent fishing. He loved gathering or texting with friends and family while sharing his passion for sports.
Above all, Leonardo's greatest joy was the life he built and shared with his beloved wife, Lola. He took immense pride in his family and cherished every milestone his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren reached. He treasured time spent together with them through school functions, sporting events, holiday gatherings, and eating together at restaurants. He is reunited with his beloved wife, finally and forever.
Leonardo was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Teniente, father Leonardo C. Teniente, wife Maria Teniente, sisters Carrie Teniente and Elvira Teniente. He is survived by sisters Leonor Kirksey (late Phillip Kirksey), Grace Wyman (Ralph Wyman), Janie Teniente, Delia Alfaro (Alex Alfaro), Rachel Teniente; his children Yvonne Teniente, Daniel Cortez (Amber Cortez), Margaret Flores, Virginia Ramirez (Andrew Ramirez); his grandchildren Dana, Adelina, Angelina, Santana, Meagan, Amanda, Joshua, Mason, Joseph, Derrick, Isaac, Parker, Antonio and Karrisma; great- grandchildren Carson, Maya, Ava, Mateo, Adonis, Brayden and Joaquin and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends who were all part of his large family.
Leonardo's legacy of quick-witted & sharp humor, dedication, and love will live on in all of us.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Castillo Funeral Home, with burial following Tuesday, February 10, 2026, with full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
