Lorenzo Q.
De La Cruz
September 27, 1927 – March 7, 2020
Lorenzo De La Cruz passed away peacefully on March 7, 2020, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. He was 92 years old. He was born in Sabinas Hidalgo, Mexico on September 27, 1927.
Lorenzo immigrated from Mexico with his beloved Eva and children in 1969. Soon after arriving in the U.S. he opened Azteca Bakery on the Westside of San Antonio. Here is where he was able to fulfill his dream of being a Panadero as well as a provider for his family. He took great pride in his baking and welcomed everyone with a smile and a kind word. Seeing him make pan dulce gave you a feeling that you were in the presents of a true artist. He shared his ability with so many that his talent for making pan dulce will forever be his legacy. He treasured the beautiful memories he had of his family both here and in Mexico. He also took great honor is becoming a U.S. citizen and being able to exercise his right to vote. Education was something he wished for everyone and would take any opportunity to express its importance. Most precious to Lorenzo was his faith in God. He will be cherished and missed tremendously.
Lorenzo is also preceded in death by his wife Eva De La Cruz, Son Noe De La Cruz, and Daughter Juanita De La Cruz. Lorenzo is loved and will be missed by his son, Lorenzo De La Cruz Jr; daughters, Graciela Rios (Jorge), and Felisitas Flores; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A PUBLIC VISTATION will be held from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Castillo Mission Funeral Home on MONDAY, MARCH 16, 2020, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.
On TUESDAY, MARCH 17, 2020, EVERYONE IS INVITED TO MEET for a Graveside Service at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Road, San Antonio, Texas 78237.
There will be NO FORMAL PROCESSION FROM THE FUNERAL HOME TO THE CEMETERY due to the unforeseen circumstances of our present day. The family is grateful for the love, prayers and condolences extended to them during this time. They are aware that these services are a change from what may have been scheduled originally, but for the well-being of their friends and family, the family has decided to adjust Mr. De La Cruz's services at the recommendation of the Church.
