In Loving Memory of Louis Casanova Farias

Louis Casanova Farias, lovingly known to his family as Louie, was born on December 31, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, to Jesus Flores Farias and Anita Casanova Farias Chavez. He passed away peacefully at home in Converse, Texas, on August 8, 2026, surrounded by his children, as worship music played and ushered him into the Kingdom of Heaven.

Louis was the second-born of twelve children. He was a beloved brother and will be remembered by his surviving four sisters and one brother, as well as by the many family members and friends whose lives he touched throughout his years.

From a young age, Louis understood the meaning of hard work. As a child, he worked as a migrant farm worker, traveling to Michigan to pick fruit. That early experience helped shape the strong work ethic and determination that remained with him throughout his life.

Louis was also proud of his time in ROTC at Brackenridge High School, an experience that reflected his discipline, pride, and sense of responsibility from an early age.

Sales became his lifelong profession. Over the years, he worked for companies including Pearl Beer, RC Cola, Rainbow Bread, Buttercrust, Lance, Bon Appétite, and Mrs. Baird's. Eventually, Louis made the decision to become self-employed. His independence allowed him to build a business of his own while also giving him something even more important—the ability to be there for his daughter, Veronica, whom he raised on his own beginning when she was just twelve years old. He sold Mexican bread and other goods wholesale to Mexican restaurants and convenience stores throughout San Antonio and the surrounding communities.

To those who knew him, Louis was unforgettable.

He took great pride in his appearance and always believed there was a reason to look good and smell good. He was rarely seen without a collared shirt, and he especially loved dressing in a suit. But behind that sharp appearance was a man with an even bigger heart.

Louis was a giver. He was always looking for a way to help someone. His generosity could be seen through his involvement with the Knights of Columbus at church, through the people he helped in his community, and even in the simple gesture of offering a child a piece of sweet bread. He did not need a reason to give. Helping others was simply part of who he was.

He also loved food—and anyone fortunate enough to taste his menudo knew that he made it exceptionally well. Food was one of the ways Louis expressed love, bringing people together and creating memories that his family will carry with them for years to come.

There will never be enough words to describe Louis or everything he meant to the people who loved him. His life cannot be measured only by the work he did, the places he traveled, or the people he helped. His greatest legacy is found in the people he loved and the lives he influenced.

Louis leaves behind a lifetime of stories, lessons, laughter, recipes, familiar sayings, and memories that will continue to live on through his family. He leaves behind five children: Louisa Luna (Simon), Louis Farias Jr. (Erika), step-daughter Analy Martinez (Oscar), Jessica Farias, and Veronica Del Angel (Alfredo); and his grandchildren: Madisyn, Luke, Lola, Louis III, Mia, Angel, Alexia, Cesar, Lynna, Valeria, Cruz, Camila, Noah, Ariella, and Elena. He also leaves behind extended family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known and loved him.

For those who knew Louis, his absence will be felt in a thousand little ways—in the sound of his name, in a familiar song, at a family meal, in the smell of fresh bread, in a well-dressed man passing by, and especially in the moments when someone hears the word “Mija” and remembers the man who said it with so much love.

His family will miss everything about him.

They will miss his voice, his stories, his humor, his generosity, his love of good food, his impeccable appearance, and all the little things that made him who he was. Most of all, they will miss simply having him here.

Louis Casanova Farias was a son, brother, father, grandfather, friend, provider, businessman, and a man who believed in helping others. But to those who loved him most, he was simply Dad.

There will never be enough words to tell the story of who he was. There will never be enough pages to hold every memory, every lesson, every laugh, or every moment that made him Dad. But his life will continue through the people he loved, the family he built, the kindness he gave, and the memories he left behind.

His life was a gift. His love was his legacy. And he will be missed more than words could ever say.
