Obituary

Lucia D. Martinez born and raised in San Antonio, Tx, joined the Angels on Jan. 18, 2023. She was 69 years old. She was born on September 23, 1953 to Alexander and Herlinda Duron, whom preceded her in death along with her younger siblings; Rosa Maria, Sophia, Antonio, Teodoro, and Andres Duron. Also, several in-laws whom she loved very much Pedro & Guadalupe Martinez, and Antonio Martinez.

Lucia grew up in the Catholic Church where her love for God and sports grew starting with softball and volleyball. She loved watching all sports with her husband daily. Lucia graduated from Burbank H.S. She was always proud to be a Bulldog through and through, even sending her children on to follow her legacy.

Lucia had a creative and artistic mind, and touch that many people admired. She used those talents while working at Labat, JC Penny's and McDonald's where she would retire from. She loved her job and making a difference as she taught kids crafts every week after school, ran Ronald McDonald shows and always helped with raising money for the Ronald McDonald House. She will be missed in the eyes of many.

Lucia had a smile and laugh that could brighten up any room or crowd. She had a heart of gold and a faith in Jesus Christ that carried her whole family. She was always there all and any of her family in Christ and loved being a big part of the Guadalupana's Organization.

Lucia was recently diagnosed with Leukemia which created great difficulty to fight off any infection. It was at this time that the Lord Jesus Christ decided she no longer needed to suffer and called on her to be an Angel in his Kingdom.

Family was always most important to her after Jesus Christ. She is survived by her husband of 48 years Juan M. Martinez. Her siblings, Francisco (Maria), Alexander (Rosario), Louis (Nora), Mary Esther, Concha, and Lillian Duron. Her loving children, Juan Mathias Martinez (Hilda), Jackie Marie Torres (Jayson), and Joey Martinez. Followed by her beautiful grandchildren, Jesse A. Ramos (Brina), Jazmine A. Cervantes (Ramon), Juliana A. Torres, Jayson R. Torres Jr., Jodi A. Torres, Jonathan A. Martinez, Eli & Tristen Zuniga, Raul & Jesse Santos, Destiny M. Cisneros, Joey Martinez Jr., Devin Martinez, Jemini, Jayden, and Jayce Martinez, and 9 great-grandchildren.
