Luis P. Garza went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 16, 2022 at the age of 77.  He was born on November 4, 1945 in Sanderson, Texas to Reynaldo and Fidela Garza.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army, and was proud to have served his Country.  Following his military service, he attended Our Lady of the Lake University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Social Work in 1973.  Luis was the first in his family to obtain a college degree. After a long and rewarding career with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Luis retired in May 2014 to enjoy time with his family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grand-parents, Antonio and Agustina Garza; maternal grand-parents, Julian and Inocensia A. Perez; parents, Reynaldo and Fidela Garza; and brothers Reynaldo and Roberto Garza.  Luis leaves to cherish his memory his sons William Garza (Denise) and Michael Garza (Amy); grand-children, Daniella, Olivia, Luke and Paloma Garza; sister, Elodia Villegas (Claudio); brother, Daniel Garza; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family members. He was loved and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.  The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the physicians and the nurses at University Hospital for their professional and compassionate care while Luis was at the hospital.
