Obituary

Lydia Levine Alcantar was born to Andrew Levine and Manuela M. Levine on May 15, 1939 in San Antonio Tx. Lydia married the love of her life, Manuel Alcantar, in 1956 and was blessed with twelve beautiful children. In 1969, they felt the strong calling of God over their lives as they embarked on their pastoral ministry. Lydia faithfully and wholeheartedly served alongside her Husband for sixteen years. Devoting herself tirelessly into the Kingdom of Heaven. Many could testify of her grace, dignity, and godliness. The imprint of a strong, fervent, God-fearing woman whose impact will not only be remembered, but live on for generations to come.

Her joy, humor and warmth were a gift. Lydia enjoyed spending time outdoors with her children, taking trips to the beach, as well as playing hide and seek. She always found ways to win. Her favorite days were sitting around a bonfire with the people she loved, singing songs, laughing and smiling. She loved flowers, specifically lilies and roses, and enjoyed crafting with her children and grandchildren. Lydia had a strong affection for cats and dogs, especially for one chihuahua pup that her children were forced to call "sister" or "tia penny".

Lydia had a sentimental fondness of pink and blue, colors that reminded her of her love for her children. They brought such joy to her, she would often give her adult children pink and blue gifts, regardless of their age. This was her tender way of keeping her children as kids. Today we wear these colors in memory of her – rejoicing that she is now in a place the Lord has prepared for her.

She will be missed by her 12 children Beatrice Santos (Saul Santos), Manuel Alcantar, Rudy Alcantar (Mary Alice Alcantar), Rachel Alcantar, Robert Alcantar (Adriana Alcantar) Mary Sandoval (Michael Sandoval) Elias Alcantar( Eliza Alcantar) Lydia Alcantar (David Nieves), Esther Apo (Lawrence Apo) Dalia Camacho (Fidel Camacho) Steven Alcantar, Paul Alcantar (Melinda Alcantar). She is survived by 51 grandchildren and 76 great- grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by husband Manuel Alcantar, parents Andrew Levine, Manuela M. Levine and 4 siblings.

Lydia was a loving, selfless light to those who had the privilege of knowing her. Those closest to her knew her as pastors wife, mom, suegra, and grandma. Her life was a gift to us all and her memories will forever be a treasure. Knowing that the splendor of the woman she was now rests in the arms of her creator.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
