With deep sorrow, the López Delgado family announces the unexpected passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Lydia Delgado Colón, on June 30, 2024 at the age of 77 in San Antonio, Texas.

Born on March 10, 1947 in Cataño, Puerto Rico, she is preceded in death by her parents Sixto Delgado Santos and Maria Luisa Colón Gómez, her beloved husband for 57 years, Gilbert J. López Rivera, and her sisters Carmen Luisa Colón Gómez, Ramonita Delgado Colón and Ana Delgado Colón and her brother Sergio Delgado.

She is survived by her children Cynthia Ivette, Damaris Arleen, Iliana Marie and Gilbert Joseph JR, her grandchildren Derek Gotay López, Michelle Arleen Hernández López, Giovanna Ivette Báez López, Daniel Yair Martínez López, Dianelys Marie Martínez López and Gabriela Valentina López Rosario, her children-in-law Juan E. Báez Berríos, Juan Hernández Chuan, Mark Guzmán, Verónica Rosario González, and her sister Myriam Delgado Colón and her brother Sixto Delgado Colón.

Lydia was an exemplary woman, dedicated to her family and community. She worked tirelessly as a social worker as one of her careers, but she helped and advised many others in times of greatest need during her entire life, due to her belief in an Almighty God.

The Visitation will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Castillo Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas, from 1:00-5:00 PM; with a Prayer Service at 3:00 PM. The burial of her remains will be held together with her beloved husband next Friday, July 26, 2024 at 10:00 am at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery, in San Antonio, Texas, where Gilbert will have all the deserved military honors, as was their wish.
