On January 18, 2024, Lydia Jauregui Gonzalez (Lila, Ana) left this earth to be with her Heavenly Father and Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lydia was born on April 18, 1944, in Brownsville, Texas, where she spent her youth and most of her young adult life. She worked in the Brownsville courthouse for several years before moving to Dallas. While in Dallas, she worked the night shift as a Dallas County Sheriff's Department booking clerk. Lydia loved her job and coworkers: she took great pride in working at the county for over 23 years until her retirement.

In 2004, Lydia embarked on a new chapter in her life when she married her best friend, Luis Gonzalez. Together, they established their home in San Antonio, where she resided until her passing. She would spend some of her happiest moments in San Antonio: gardening, taking pictures of her plants, birds, and squirrels — but what she cherished most was the countless visits from her nieces and nephews. Her home was a haven, a refuge, a sanctuary of love and laughter for all who would come to see her.

She loved nothing more than cooking, talking, and spending time with her loved ones.

Lydia was predeceased by her husband, Luis Gonzalez, her parents, Aurora and Juan Jauregui, and her brothers, Joel, Eliseo, Joel, Josue, and Juan Jauregui.

She is survived by her sisters, Esther A. Zamora (Licha) and her husband  Pedro Juan Zamora and Aurora Vasquez (Gole) and her husband Jose Angel Vasquez, brothers Jonathan and Jeremias Jauregui, and numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews whom she loved as her own.

Visitations will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 4-8 pm, with the prayer service at 6 pm at Castillo Funeral Home. The final viewing will be at 9 a.m. on February 1, followed by the graveside service at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10 am, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.

Lydia Gonzalez will be deeply missed by her loving family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and selflessness.
