Macario Ramos
Barcena
February 3, 1944 – August 13, 2023
Son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; a man who loved
well and was well-loved.
Macario "Mac" Ramos Barcena was called home to eternal rest on August 13, 2023, at
the blessed age of 79. Macario was the third of five children born on February 3, 1944, in
San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from Edgewood High School in 1962. Shortly after, he
served in Vietnam, and Germany, and was stationed in Colorado Springs, CO where he
was a helicopter mechanic instructor. Upon returning home, he started a family that now
honors him. He loved spending his free time barbecuing, fishing, and making memories
with his loved ones.
He has been reunited with his parents, Trinidad and Blasa Barcena, and sisters Amelia
Flores and Maria Elena Benavidez in heaven. He is survived by his loving wife of 56
years, Guadalupe Mireles Barcena, Sisters Tina Vielmann and Maxine Olivo, and Sons
Joseph Barcena (Claudia Barcena), Sergio Barcena (Lorraine Pena), and Roland Barcena
(Liz Barcena). Together they have blessed him with 11 grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to St Vincent de Paul
