December 25, 1935 – December 6, 2023
Manuel G. Martinez, Jr. was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the blessed age of 87. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 25, 1935 to Manuel S. Martinez and Cruz Gonzalez. He will always be remembered in our hearts as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. He is reunited in heaven with his parents and the love of his life wife Victoria S. Martinez of 48 years; sons Manuel Segura Martinez III, Joseph Aaron Martinez, and John Paul Martinez; brothers Paul G. Martinez and Johnny G. Martinez; sisters Julia Hinojosa, Josie Segura. He is survived by his sons Albert G. Martinez and Christopher Martinez; sisters Toni Martinez and Lupe Lara. He also had 14 grandchildren; Alyssa, Jonathan, Joseph, Manuel IV, Tori, Savannah, Erin, Jeremiah, Ryan, Sophia, Maddie, Reese, Riley, Analisa; great grandchildren, as well as numerous, nieces, nephews; extended family members and friends. Heaven has gained a treasured soul. He will live forever in our hearts.
Manuel graduated in 1955 from San Antonio Vocational and Technical school later renamed Fox Tech. He then enlisted in the United States Army from 1955 -1963 serving 8 years, half his time active duty and other half in the army reserves. He loved spending time at home with his family. Manuel was a member of St John Berchmans Catholic Church. Manuel worked at Dittmar Lumber Co. for over 46 years. He loved his second family. He also loved listening to music and spending time watching the Sports, Spurs, Longhorns, Dodgers, and the Houston Oilers. As we remember Manuel, we celebrate a life well-lived, a love well-shared, he left a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come. Manuel G. Martinez Jr. was a loving husband, a dedicated father, a loyal friend and a gracious grandfather, he will forever be in our hearts. His love and light will guide us through the years to come. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit lives on in the memories he created and the lives he enriched.
