Manuel was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. From a young age he developed a strong work ethic and faith base that would serve him throughout his life. After losing his mother as baby he was raised by his aunt and uncle Aurelia and Antonio Lopez. He graduated from Fox Tech High School with an emphasis in wood crafting. Manuel was also a part of the youth group at St. Agnes Catholic Church. It was through his youth group that he met his wife, Mary Grace. Manuel worked hard from early on. He started at Custom Craft then moved on to an electrician's apprentice and eventually joined the UTHSCSA as a cabinet maker for 27 years. He volunteered as a coach for his kids' youth sports. After he retired, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also volunteered with the St. Vincent De Paul group at St. Ann's Catholic Church giving out food and clothing to those in need. Manuel was a kind and caring man. He gave his time freely, always willing to help family and friends. If ever a friend or family member needed help or just a shoulder to lean on Manuel was there.
