Marcela S.
Rios
January 16, 1928 – March 23, 2020
Marcela Sandoval Rios, our beloved mother (Ama), left this earth to join the angels in heaven on Monday March 23, 2020. We were beyond blessed to have her never ending love surround us for 92 years. Marcela was born in Kenedy, TX (Karnes county) on a small "ranchito" is how she liked to describe her birth place.
Marcela grew up during the depression era and she never took anything or any meal for granted and always prayed and thanked God before every meal. In her early years she worked as a farm worker picking cotton and other agriculture products alongside her parents and siblings. She had many fond memories and enjoyed talking about her times in the fields. Later in life she worked for Roadway Inn as a maid until she reached retirement age. Even after retirement she continued to work hard and ride the bus to clean other peoples' homes. No matter how hard she worked she was always full of love, joy and peace.
Marcela loved everyone unconditionally and was able to see the beauty in everyone and everything. Her faith guided her every waking moment and she always appreciated all of God's creations from the smallest flower or bird to the greatness in rain showers and sunsets.
During her free time she enjoyed reading her bible and going to church where she could spend time with her many friends. She also enjoyed having long phone conversations with her sisters, nieces, and friends. Many family & friends used to call her in their time of need for prayer because they knew she always had words of love and wisdom to share with them. She always used to say, "Don't worry you will be healed, our Lord is the best doctor". She sincerely prayed daily for everyone.
Sadly Marcela lost her husband Modesto Rios in 1984 and although it brings us great sadness it gives us solace that she is now reunited with her loving husband in heaven.
Marcela is also preceded in death by her father Miguel Sandoval, her mother Jesusa Gonzales Sandoval, her brother Juan Sandoval and sister-in-law Gloria Sandoval, her brother Domingo Sandoval and sister-in-law Santos Sandoval. We know and have faith that they are all now joyfully reunited.
Marcela is survived by her loving family: daughter, Anita Herrera (Pedro); daughter, Erlinda Portillo (Miguel); daughter, Dori Asebedo (Ramiro); son, Carlos Rios; sister, Lydia Rodriguez; sister, Manuela Garcia; brother, Esteban Sandoval; granddaughter, Rachel Keihl; granddaughter Sarah Rodriguez (Noah); granddaughter, Priscilla Lopez; granddaughter Marie Herrera; grandson, David Ruiz; grandson, Pedro Herrera; great granddaughter, Seleste Rodriguez; great granddaughter, Elisha Ruiz; great grandson, Ezekiel Ruiz; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Because of her humble, kind and unselfish nature she was considered by her close family and friends as a uniquely special person. She will be truly missed but remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Ama, may you now rest in peace and rejoice among the angels in your beautiful heavenly home.
