Margaret Hermosa Perez, age 107, passed away peacefully at her home on April 24, 2022, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born in San Antonio, Texas on January 31, 1915.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard L. Perez, her son Leonard M. Perez Jr, her parents Jose Angel Hermosa and Blanche Sarro Hermosa, and sibblings, Josephine Hernandez, Carolina Hermosa, Amelia Hermosa, Carolina Hermosa, Blanche Sepulveda, Lucy Villarreal, Joe Hermosa and Peter S. Hermosa. She is survived by her daughter, Sylvia T. Perez, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Margaret was known as the matriarch of the Hermosa family. At the age of 11, after her fathers death, she worked and generously helped her mother with the upbriging of her younger siblings. Margaret remained close to her siblings throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed family gatherings and meeting her sisters weekly to go to lunch, dinner, shopping or to go play bingo.
Margaret married her husband on January 6, 1935. She adored her husband, son and daughter. After her husband's death in 1985, she and her two children remained extremely close.
One of Margaret's greatest joys was meeting people. She met many people and established lifelong friendships, working as an Avon representative for 60 years. Her business ambitions were shown through the establishment of her Avon business operating from a thrift store for 30 years. She retired from working at the age of 102. Although she retired from the thrift store, she continued to work as an independent Avon consultant until her death.
Margaret always put her catholic faith first. Margaret was a Eucharistic minister. member for 20 years, administering holy communion to home bound and hospitalized members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Margaret had a passion for traveling. Her travels took her to Europe, Mexico, Canada, Caribbean and many states in the United States. She also enjoyed gambling. She traveled to various casinos and had good luck at winning jackpots. One of her favorite hobbies was making cakes, which grew into a business making beautiful wedding cakes.
Margaret will always be remembered as a person who never met a stranger. Margaret will especially be remembered for her kind, generous and loving heart for her family and others. She will be sincerely missed.
