She was known as "Tive" by family and friends. She was raised in San Benito, Texas and was the oldest of 8 children to Inocencio and Maria Louisa Gomez Vega. She married her husband Carlos Balderas Sr. on May 18, 1958.

She enjoyed to travel and visit casinos with her husband, her brother-n-law Doroteo and his wife Maria. She was always being sociable and randomly meeting people, talking to strangers like they were old friends, sharing her life stories, laughing and making memories with them.
When her children or family friends stopped by to visit, she always made her family favorite, Bean and Egg tacos. They were the best!
