Maria Evelia Casio was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the blessed age of 96.

She was born September 6, 1927, in Zacatecas, Mexico. "Abuelita" was loved by many who would affectionately adopt her as their own grandmother. She loved the company of her family, always craved un chocolatito and had a witty sense of humor. She will be remembered for her contagious joy, her love of singing and her devoted faith to God.

She is reunited in heaven with her parents, her brother Kiko, the father of her children Juan Carlos Casas and her two sons Julio and Manuel Casas.

She is loved and will be greatly missed by her daughter Yolanda Casas; grandchildren Julio Casas Jr., Rick Casas, Noel Casas, Martin Casas, Erick Casas, Alex Casas, Estrella Casas, Angelica Casas, Alejandra Casas and Andrew Casas; and her many great-grandchildren, as well as extended family members and friends. Heaven has gained a treasured soul. She will live forever in our hearts.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, January 4, 2024, in Castillo Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm for visitation and at 6:00 pm for a rosary service.

A funeral mass will be conducted on Friday, January 5, 2024, in St. Jude Catholic Church at 9:00 am. The burial will follow with a graveside service at Eastview Cemetery.
