Maria Guadalupe Cavazos

August 15, 1950 – January 5, 2025

Maria Cavazos entered heaven's gate peacefully on January 5, 2025, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family at the age of 74 years old. She was born in San Antonio, TX on August 15, 1950 to Santos and Ernestina Vasquez.

Maria was preceded in death by her father, Santos Vasquez Sr; Sister, Yolanda Cyrus; Brother, Nicholas Gonzales; Niece, Erica Burciaga-Arista and Best friend, Janie Flores.  Maria is loved and will be missed by her Husband of 47 years, Gilbert Cavazos Sr.; Mother, Ernestina Vasquez; Children, Edward Garcia Jr (Suzanna); Tina Lucio (Michael); Roseanna Escamilla (Mark); Melissa Gutierrez (Tino) Gilbert Cavazos Jr (Savhannah); 18 Grandchildren; 17 Great-Grandchildren; Brothers, Santos Vasquez Jr, Roberto Vasquez, David Vasquez; Sisters, Micaela Martinez, Gloria Burciaga, Nelda Charles, Elva Fabela and numerous nieces, nephews and extended Grandchildren and Family.

Maria was best known as "Grandma Mary" and was loved by all.  During her spare time, she loved doing crafts, sewing, reading, puzzles and going to Kickapoo.  In her earlier years, Maria was a bilingual banker, an avid bowler, girl scout leader and a parent volunteer at her children's school.  She attended St. Phillips College and studied medical transcription.

Maria was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed tremendously by all who knew and love her.
