Maria D Cortez, 59, passed away Friday evening, February 17, 2023, at her residence surrounded by love and family. She was born on February 12, 1964, in San Antonio, Texas a daughter of the late Adan and Dora Rodriguez.

Maria also known as 'Terry' was a special gift to this world from the Lord. She lived her life spreading endless amounts of joy, love, and affection to everyone who had the privilege of meeting her. Simple pleasures made her the happiest, playing cards, listening to music, and coloring. She loved having a coin purse with money and especially loved playing with her nieces and nephews. Terry loved taking care of her baby dolls, she had many and loved each one so delicately, to her they were real and she cherished them so much. Terry's happiness was infectious, and she spread cheer everywhere she went.  She taught us to love greater, to be kind and considerate to everyone and to look at the world with wide eyes full of wonder and excitement. Terry will be remembered forever by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents Adan and Dora R. Cortez, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Olga Cortez and Oralia Cortez; and a brother, Raymond Cortez.

Family members include her sisters, Angelita Jaurez, Thelma Sanchez, and Gloria Adame; brothers, David Cortez, Jesse Cortez, Danny Cortez, Ruben Cortez, and Gregory Cortez; many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

The family will receive guests from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday March 2, 2023, at Castillo Funeral Home for visitation and at 6:00 pm a Chapel Service will be conducted.

Family and friends will meet at Castillo Funeral Home Friday March 3, 2023, by 10:00 am for a procession to San Fernando III Cemetery for burial at 10:30 am.
