Maria Antonia Duarte, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and nurse, passed away peacefully in her loving home on August 14, 2024, at the age of 89.

Maria was born on April 5, 1935, in Carrizo Springs, TX. Maria dedicated her life to caring for her family and others. She spent many years as a nurse, touching countless lives with her compassion and expertise.

A devoted wife of 48 years, she shared a beautiful partnership with her husband, Juan Manuel Duarte, until his passing in 2000.

Maria was a woman of many skills and talents. She found joy in tending to her garden, where vibrant flowers and lush greenery flourished under her loving care. Her creativity also shone through her passion for sewing and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that brought warmth and style to her family, friends, and home.

She is survived by her seven children: Juan Manuel Duarte, Jr, Mary Helen Rios, Graciela Murtishaw, Joseph Edmundo Duarte, Antonio Duarte, Adrian Orlando Duarte, and Maricella Duarte, 26 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 5 great, great grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating Maria's life will be held on August 23, 2024, at 4:00pm - 6:00pm at Castillo Funeral Home.

Maria will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
