Maria T. Escobar entered eternal rest on October 2, 2023, at the blessed age of 90. Maria was born in Asherton, Texas on January 28, 1933 to the late Donaciano and Angelita Tobias. Maria moved to San Antonio after she married her husband Jose G. Escobar Jr., where she created a beautiful family and life for the next 73 years. Maria was a loving Mother, Wife and Grandma that enjoyed spending time with her family and numerous grandkids. Maria loved being outdoors, where she would spend most of her time gardening and bringing color to the world with her abundance of plants. Her hands were a gift that fostered so many hobbies; some of her favorites were fishing, going to play bingo, and crafting through embroidery and sewing. Maria enjoyed listening to Mexican singers like Vicente Fernandez and Juan Gabriel, and singing and dancing along to the music she grew up with. Every year her and her family looked forward to the "New Year's Eve Tamaleda" that Maria would host, where all were welcome. Maria was the heart and soul of our family and will be missed tremendously.

She is reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband Jose G. Escobar Jr., parents Donaciano and Angelita Tobias, daughter Angelita Escobar, and son Edward Orlando Escobar, and her 6 siblings. Maria is survived by her son Jose G. Escobar III, daughter Letizia Escobar Calderon (Leonard Calderon), and son Marco Antonio Escobar; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, along with numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a Rosary to begin at 6:00pm. Family and friends will depart at 9:30am in procession on Friday, October 13, 2023 for a 10:00am Funeral Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
