With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Maria Alicia Garza, who entered an eternal rest surrounded by the love of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she loved most.
A devoted homemaker throughout much of her life, Maria Alicia dedicated herself to caring for her family. Her greatest joy came from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a woman of deep faith whose love and guidance shaped generations. Whether offering words of encouragement, preparing a meal, or simply being present when someone needed her, she always put her family first.
She found happiness in life's simple pleasures—shopping, spending time at the mall, enjoying good food, and creating memories with those she loved. Known for her fierce spirit and strong personality, she spoke her mind with honesty and tenacity that remained with her until the very end. Her strength, resilience, and love will be remembered by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Salvador M. Garza; her son, Salvador Garza; her daughter-in-law, Elvira Garza; and her grandson, Eduardo A. Mares.
She is survived by her loving children: George Garza; Maria Alicia Mireles and husband Jose Mireles; and Jesus Garza and wife Marisol Garza.
She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Erica Arredondo, Vanessa M. Barrera, Justin Hettler, Christopher Hettler, John C. Mireles, Teressa M. Mireles, and Adrian Garza.
Her legacy continues through her beloved great-grandchildren: Elissa R. Arredondo, Sophia Barrera, George Barrera, Amaris L. Mireles, Ralphie V. Arredondo, and Eliana Barrera.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that her faith carried her home and that her love will continue to live on through the family she treasured so dearly. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
