Beloved mother and grandmother Maria De La Lus Quiroz, 80, of San Antonio, TX passed away on May 11, 2024, after a long battle with dementia and Parkinson's. Her final moments were spent peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Maria was the heart of our family. She was married for 45 years to Antonio and together they raised 8 children, Lydia Espinoza, Norma Arroyo, Jimmy Sanchez, Maxine Gaona, Antoinette Lumbreras, Shirley Henderson, Patsy Martinez, Frutoso Quiroz, and Elizabeth Escamilla. Maria has 17 grandchildren, 41 great- grandchildren, and 1 great- great- grandchild.  Maria was predeceased by her loving husband Antonio and son Jimmy Sanchez.

Maria was born on December 18, 1943, to Eusebio Lopez and Nicolasa Castillo. Maria grew up in San Antonio where she raised all her family.  She had a love for thrift stores, a craft for crocheting, but more importantly Maria believed in family. She loved all her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. Maria instilled traditions in each one of us and leaves behind a beautiful legacy.

A visitation will be held at Castillo Funeral Home on Friday, May 17th, 2024, from 5:00pm until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00pm.  Family and friends will depart at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from Castillo Funeral Home for a 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with interment to follow at San Jose Burial Park. Reception to be held immediately after interment at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.
