Maria De
Lourdes Zoll
January 18, 1958 – January 30, 2023
Maria de Lourdes Zoll was born in Mexico City on January 18th, 1958. She passed away on January 30th, 2023. She was 65 years old. She is survived by her children Jessica, Michael, Jennifer, and Robert, her husband Chen, and countless loving friends and family members. She will be dearly missed.
As a teenager, Maria moved to San Antonio with her mother and brothers. Maria took on several odd jobs after high school, working as a delivery driver and in a library. She ultimately worked as a printer for 18 years and sometimes acted as the primary financial support for her budding family. After leaving her job as a printer, Maria would juggle raising her children with earning an Associate's Degree in Radiology. In 2006, she became an entrepreneur when she opened an auto shop with her husband Chen. None of these things were easy, but Maria's perseverance shone through all of her life's ups and downs. Never one to stay down after a fall, she moved forward with her unique blend of energy and cheer.
Maria brimmed with this positive energy, and she directed it towards her greatest loves; she sewed clothes for her family, saw as much of the world as possible, and had the greenest thumb you'd ever see. Yet anyone who met her knows that Maria's true passion was family. She did her best to enjoy every moment with her husband, children, grandchildren, brothers, and relatives. She loved to dance with them, play lotería and darts with them, and talk the night away around a good meal.
In 2014, Maria retired to spend more time with her children and grandchildren. During this period, Maria had time to pick up more hobbies, especially playing darts. She could also continue a tradition of traveling that started when she met her husband, Chen. Their first road trip was a 1987 drive to the Grand Canyon. She visited Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, Cancun, and cruised around the Atlantic.
Maria showed deep and honest compassion for everybody she met. Her enormous capacity for perseverance, empathy, and forgiveness has left a positive mark on the world and in the lives of everyone who called her "friend." In Maria, we must see an example of the generosity with which we can treat each other. If we take it to heart, we can carry her memory and loving spirit onward.
