Maria Guadalupe Menchaca falleció el 28 de febrero de 2024, a la edad de 79 años, en el Baptist Medical Center de San Antonio, Texas. Lupita nació el 22 de marzo de 1944 en El Palmito, Durango, México, siendo la hija de Rodolfo y Felisa Ramírez. Cuando apenas era una niña, su familia se estableció en San Antonio, Texas en donde residió la mayor parte de su vida. Su vida fue un ejemplo de resiliencia frente a la adversidad y de momentos felices compartidos con aquellos a quienes amaba, en especial con sus hermanos, hermanas y su esposo Joe. Como la hermana mayor de su familia, Lupita encontraba satisfacción en cuidar a todos sus hermanos y hermanas desde que eran pequeños, y hasta sus últimos días continuó asegurándose de su bienestar. Ella compartía con orgullo que había participado en las bodas de todos ellos, así como de haber sido madrina de confirmación y/o bautizo de muchos de sus sobrinos y sobrinas. A ella le encantaba que le dieran fotos de celebraciones de cumpleaños y graduaciones, de todos sus sobrinos y sobrinas, y sus hijos a medida que iban creciendo. Desde siempre, Lupita valoraba los lazos familiares y de amistad. Su hogar y sus restaurantes favoritos se convirtieron en lugares de encuentro para risas, historias y comidas compartidas. Su cálida hospitalidad creó recuerdos duraderos para todos aquellos que tuvieron el privilegio de participar en las reuniones familiares organizadas en su casa por ella, su esposo y su mamá. Lupita trabajó en Levi Strauss, donde desempeñó el papel de costurera y cultivó amistades entrañables. Más adelante, estableció su propio negocio, descubriendo así una pasión por compartir la belleza de las joyas de oro con amigos y familiares. Además de sus esfuerzos laborales, llevaba una vida llena de pasatiempos. Le gustaba cuidar de sus plantas, hacer crucigramas, jugar cartas y bingo y sobre todo ir de viaje con su esposo, su cuñada María Elena y su hermano Lorenzo. Lupita enfrentó el dolor de la pérdida con resiliencia, siendo precedida en la muerte por su esposo, José, su madre, Felisa, su padre, Rodolfo, sus hermanos Raúl y Juan Israel (Yaye), y su muy querida tía Micaela. Lupita es recordada con profundo cariño por su extensa y amorosa familia, tanto de sangre como adoptiva. Entre los hermanos que sobreviven se encuentran Roberto, Lorenzo, Eloy, Margarita, María Ermelinda, Martha, San Juana, Luis, Mike y María, así como Martha, Conse, Anita y Mario. Su risa y momentos compartidos vivirán con todos aquellos que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla. La extrañaremos, pero encontramos consuelo sabiendo que Lupita Menchaca creía en Jesús y su resurrección antes de su fallecimiento. Descanse en paz, Lupita.

Lupita was born on March 22, 1944, in El Palmito, Durango, Mexico, the daughter of Rodolfo and Felisa Ramírez. When she was just a child, her family settled in San Antonio, Texas, where she resided for most of her life. Her life was an example of resilience in the face of adversity and of joyful moments shared with those she loved, especially with her siblings and her husband Joe. As the eldest sister in her family, Lupita found fulfillment in caring for all her siblings from a young age, and until her last days, she ensured their well-being. She took pride in participating in their weddings and being the godmother of many of her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed receiving photos of birthday and graduation celebrations, of all her nieces and nephews and their children as they were growing up. Lupita always cherished family and friendship bonds. Her home and favorite restaurants became gathering places for laughter, stories, and shared meals. Her warm hospitality created lasting memories for all those privileged to partake in family gatherings organized by her, her husband, and her mother. Lupita worked at Levi Strauss, where she worked as a seamstress and cultivated cherished friendships. Later on, she established her own business, discovering a passion for sharing the beauty of gold jewelry with friends and family. In addition to her work efforts, she led a life full of hobbies. She enjoyed keeping her garden, completing crosswords puzzles, playing card games, and bingo, and, above all, traveling with her husband, her sister-in-law María Elena, and her brother Lorenzo. Lupita faced the pain of loss with resilience, preceded in death by her husband, Joe, her mother, Felisa, her father, Rodolfo, her brothers Raúl and Juan Israel (Yaye), and her beloved aunt Micaela. Lupita is remembered with deep affection by her extensive and loving family, both blood-related and adopted. Among the surviving siblings are Roberto, Lorenzo, Eloy, Margarita, María Ermelinda, Martha, San Juana, Luis, Mike, and María, as well as Martha, Conse, Anita, and Mario. Her laughter and shared moments will live on with all those privileged to have known her. We'll miss her dearly but find solace in the fact that Lupita Menchaca believed in Jesus and his resurrection before she passed away. Rest in peace, Lupita.
