María Elena "Reina" Navarrete
August 27, 1936 – August 22, 2023

María Elena "Reina" Navarrete peacefully went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
Reina married the love of her life, Isaías Navarrete, whom she met in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico.  She graduated from Latin American Bible Institute, now CMC, in Ysleta, Texas.  Upon graduation, she started teaching there until, along with her husband, they started their ministry pastoring.  They pastored churches in Abilene, Texas and Amarillo, Texas. The last church they pastored was Templo Sion in El Paso, Texas, where they served for over 32 years before retiring and moving to San Antonio, Texas to be close to their family.
Reina had a passion for teaching and for music.  She was a songwriter, pianist, singer, choir director and teacher and loved people, her family but most of all, she loved God with all her heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alberto and María Vargas; siblings Lupe Espinoza, Catalina Zavala, brothers Isaías, Alberto and Rev. Alejandro Vargas.  She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Lillybel Navarrete.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Isaías Navarrete and her children Annabel López (Tony), Rev. Mabel Segovia (David+), Isaías "Ty" Navarrete Jr., Roberto Navarrete (Norma), Elsa Espinosa (Yael Alberto), Elda Escobedo (Mario), 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, her childhood friend Velia Hernández and extended family and friends.
The family wishes to thank Idalia and Martha Elizondo, Cynthia Quiroz LVN and all the Magnolia Hospice nurses for their compassion in caring for our Mom.
