Maria Elisa Powlas passed away on December 31, 2024.  She was 86 years old and was born in New Braunfels, Texas on June 17, 1938.

Maria Elisa graduated from Fox Tech High School in 1957.  She attended a local business college and went on to work and retire as a civil service agent.  During her service, she met and married an Airman for the U.S. Air Force in August of 1963, Ronald Powlas.  They had one daughter, while stationed in Taiwan, Karen, in 1965.  Later they were blessed with their one an only granddaughter, Madeleine, in 2004.  When that occurred they were both the happiest of grandparents!

Maria Elisa was an untrained, talented oil painter, crafter, and pencil artist.  She enjoyed her family and was fondly known as "Tia Licha" or "Aunt Alice" depending on which side of the family you hailed from!  She was also known as a fashionista, a makeup artist, and a swim coach!  But, the role she took most seriously was that of a mother and of a grandmother! Her love will endure in the minds and hearts of those she loved…forever.

Maria Elisa is survived by her husband, Ronald; her daughter, Karen (Kim); her granddaughter, Madeleine (TJ); her oldest sister, Fela; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
