Maria Teresa
Resendiz Perez
July 30, 1936 – May 13, 2022
Maria Teresa Resendiz Perez
Maria Teresa ("Tere" or "Terry") Resendiz Perez, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the age of 85. She was born on July 30, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas. She is survived by her daughter, Martha C. Perez, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life Victor S. Perez, whom she married on January 15, 1966; her parents Cipriano Resendiz and Juana Moreno; her grandparents Petronilo Resendiz, Maria Cristina Martinez, Juan Moreno and Conrada Gamez; her brothers, Antonio Resendiz and Matias Moreno Resendiz; and her sisters, Carmen Resendiz-Quintero, Anita Resendiz, and Maria de la Luz Resendiz.
Tere leaves behind a legacy founded on a deep sense of faith. She served as a Eucharistic minister, along with her beloved husband, Victor. It was her deep love and devotion to our Blessed Mother and our Lady of Guadalupe that will remain forever etched in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
Tere (affectionately known as our beloved "ninja"), fought renal failure valiantly for 11 years. The strength she harbored during/after each dialysis treatment was beyond admirable. Although there were many times where it appeared she would earn her angel wings, Tere would amaze us by pulling through. Even during those challenging times her faith in our Blessed Mother was unwavering. We only hope that when we encounter trying situations in our lives, we can foster the strength and resolve that Tere demonstrated throughout her life.
Tere was the youngest in her family and, as such, was showered with love by her siblings especially her brother, Matias. The special bond they formed carried into their adult lives. The loss of her dear mother, Juanita, as a young adult left a void in her heart, but also molded her into the mother she would become. Tere's little family was her priority, the essence of her being. Besides her family, gardening, sewing and music were her passions in life. Many trips were made to the local nursery in search of one more "matita" to add to her garden. It seemed the smaller the plant - the better. With care and attention, she knew God's tiny creation would grow and produce the most beautiful of blooms. Sewing was a self-taught hobby she acquired as a young adult. Little did she know the talent she developed would be used later in life when making the numerous dance costumes her little girl would wear. Her love of music was inherited from her mother and later embraced by her dear husband, Victor. She was known to crank up the music when doing house chores: it was not unusual to have Juanes, Shakira, Celia Cruz, Juan Gabriel, Brooks and Dunn, or even Barry Manilow playing throughout her home.
Tere's family wishes to convey their immense gratitude to Dr. Richard Prezas and the staff at Wellmed for the dedicated care and support provided over the years. In addition, a special thanks to Blanca, Esther, and Perla, providers from Home Instead, as well as the staff at IRC San Antonio – Medical Drive, and Trinity Hospice for their dedicated work, support, and friendship.
Tere leaves an indelible impression in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She was surrounded by family and entered eternal rest peacefully in her home. Her family takes solace in knowing she has been reunited with the love of her life, her beloved parents, siblings, nephews (Lupito and Titon) and extended family members and friends. May the Lord's perpetual light shine upon all who have gone before us.
