Maria Rico went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at the age of 62 .

Maria was born on August 12, 1960, in San Antonio, Texas, to Soila and Celestino Valentin. Those who knew Maria easily recognized how important family was to her. She and Louis M. Rico shared a special bond and a 43-year marriage and adventure together. Maria adored not only her husband but her most precious gifts from the Lord, her two daughters Veronica and Vanity, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren who all love her more than words can express. Years spent watching everyone grow and flourish are the moments she truly lived for.

Maria loved playing bingo, going to casinos, and playing her lottery tickets. She enjoyed family events and watching the Cowboys, Spurs, and Astros take home wins. She was a beautiful diva always dressed to the nines with her long nails and perfect makeup. Maria was a God-fearing woman who went above and beyond with anyone that came into her life. Maria was the pilar of her family. A prime and perfect example of what anyone would strive to become. She inspired everyone around her to be better individuals. Her capacity for generosity knew no bounds. She was someone who would help anyone in need with support, encouragement, and guidance. Maria loved when family and friends would get together for holidays and family events to share stories and memories of the past and present. Those times and moments exist in our memories and will be cherished forever by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her mother Soila Valentin, Mary Valentin, Trinidad M. Rico (mother-in law), Manuel Rico Sr. (father-in-law), and sister Lupe Ortega.

She is survived by her husband Louis M. Rico; children, Veronica Rico and Vanity Rico; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; father, Celestino Valentin; siblings, San Juan Valentin (Kathy), Maggie Mireles (Bobby), Celestino Valentin Jr (Marie), Nancy Hernandez (Ralph), Lupita Purcell (Grady), and Candy Ortega (Linda); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews in addition to numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Prayer Service to be recited at 6:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022, with a Chapel Service at Castillo Funeral Home at 10:00 am followed by interment at San Fernando III Cemetery.
