Family to meet friends at church
Maria Rosa Castillo (née Elizondo), age 79, entered eternal rest on April 27, 2026.
She was born in Barroterán, Mexico to Demetria Gonzales and Francisco Elizondo. Maria Rosa was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and woman of faith who dedicated her life to her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesus S. Castillo.
She is survived by her loving children, Alma Y. Castillo, Jesus Castillo, Jr., and Daisy D. Castillo. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Raul Ruiz, Jesus Castillo III, Eric Castillo, Christian Wishart, Stephen Wishart, Joshua Wishart, and Evelyn Wishart, who were the joy of her life.
Maria Rosa will be remembered not only for her strength and unwavering love for her family, but for the sacrifices she made to create a better life for future generations. As a first-generation matriarch, her determination and resilience helped lay the foundation for opportunities her family may not have otherwise had. Because of her courage to build a life in the United States, her children and grandchildren have been able to pursue paths made possible by her hard work and devotion.
She was also known for her tireless work ethic and resourcefulness—always finding a way to provide and support her family. Though her title may have read homemaker, she was anything but; she carried her children alongside her in that journey, teaching them the value of hard work, resilience, and perseverance through her example.
Her presence brought comfort and warmth to all who knew her, and her legacy of strength, sacrifice, and love will continue to live on through her family for generations to come.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. for the public, with a Rosary at 6:00 PM at Castillo Funeral Home. On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, the family will meet friends at St Jude Catholic Church for a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Descansa en paz, mamá. Tu amor y tu fuerza vivirán en nosotros para siempre
