Maria Teresa
Segura
December 30, 1946 – December 14, 2022
Maria Teresa (Esquivel) Segura, 75, passed away Wednesday evening (December 14, 2022). She was born on December 30, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas, a daughter of the late Homer and Janie (Portales) Esquivel.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Ray Cantrill Jr., her companion, Arturo Yglesias, and a sister, Carmen Moreno.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed by USAA where she enjoyed a fulfilling career for many years. Teresa volunteered at various Catholic churches and enjoyed attending Bible study at St Matthew Catholic Church, mass at San Fernando Cathedral, and the outdoor mass at the Grotto. Her late love and companion Art showed her a new level of appreciation for music and entertainment. Teresa would accompany Art, traveling to his shows where she met so many new friends. Often one could find her riding around on the city bus enjoying events such as Fiesta, the people and sites of San Antonio. She especially enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and vacationing with family.
Teresa was incredibly loving and caring to her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as they were her pride and joy. Forever will she be remembered as a strong, determined, classy, polite, and poised woman throughout her life. Her ultimate message was to live our time to its fullest potential. She learned the phrase YOLO from family and showed them the true meaning. Her passing is one that can never be fully comprehended, and her loss is unmeasurable. Its times such as this that one can only be thankful for the years that we had with her. When reflecting on Teresa's life, she truly was blessed because she was able to do it all.
Family members include her two daughters, Annabelle Ransom (Ken) and Sylvia Sandoval (JJ), grandchildren, Jenna Rae Moreno (Matthew), Christa Nicole Trosclair (Marc), Sara Jessi De La Rosa (Chase), Marcus Anthony Ransom (Cassie), and Natalie Ransom Ramos (Joe), great-grandchildren, Ava, Mila, Olivia, Isabelle, Isaac, siblings, Lucy Ynostrosa (Rudy), Joe Esquivel (Sylvia), Luis Esquivel, Richard Esquivel (Brenda), and Carlos Portales (Liz), in addition to numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family wishes to extend extreme gratitude to the staff of Just Like Home Care and Alamo Hospice for sharing their love and care of their Queen.
The family will receive guests for visitation from 4 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Castillo Funeral Home with a Rosary Service beginning at 6 pm.
