Maria del Socorro R. Garcia, age 97, went home to our Lord on May 19, 2024.

Socorro, known to most as Lita or Choco, was born in Sabinas, Coahuila, Mexico on January 1, 1927, to Ambrosia and Nicolas. She was married to the late Ramiro Garcia on April 19, 1959, and moved to San Antonio, TX. Together, they owned and ran Alice Meat Market for over 30 years. She was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church as a Guadalupana.

Socorro is survived by her son Rafael and late wife Jeanie, daughter and husband Sara and Edmund, grandchildren Geronimo, Edward, Amanda, Michael, Rachel, and Elisa, as well as many great-grandchildren.

To everyone who knew her, Socorro was a blessing from God. She was an amazing woman who always welcomed everyone with open arms into her home and wanted to feed everyone that walked through the door "Do you want a Maria cookie?" "¿Quieres una galleta María?" She enjoyed singing and towards the end of her life; her favorite song was "Como Han Pasado Los Años." She touched many lives, always cheerful and putting smiles on everyone. This beautiful woman was strong in her faith with God, and she prayed her rosary several times a day until her last breath. She will be greatly missed.

The family will receive guests at Castillo Funeral Home on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm for visitation and at 6:00 pm for a rosary service.

A funeral mass will be conducted on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 10:00 am in St. Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow with a graveside service in San Fernando Cemetery II.
