Grace was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, graduated from Memorial High School as part of the class of 1976, with National Honor Society designation, and went on to attain her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with Teacher Certification from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.
Grace married her soulmate and best friend, Michael, on April 30, 1988. In the next year, she began her 21-year teaching career as a Theatre Arts, English, and Speech instructor at John F. Kennedy High School. "Mrs. Y" is an award-winning U.I.L. One Act Play Director having led several casts and crew to unprecedented heights, bringing home multiple honors and advancements.
Mrs. Y's life work extended well beyond the classroom as she instilled values of the highest caliber in each of the students she touched. Several, including her eldest daughters, can attest to the life-changing lessons that spanned from the classroom to the stage to real life. Her creative spark will forever echo through the halls of this lifetime and on into the next.
Grace lived her life with intention and passion, purpose and faith; whether it be a monumental occasion or a lighthearted moment, headstrong and valiant, Grace seized the day and always worked towards a better tomorrow for her children and for her community.
With keen intelligence and an unmistakable assertive candor, Grace's impassioned glory was exhibited in all aspects of her life. That same glory now carries her through to her long-awaited reunion with her dearly departed loved ones.
Though Grace has now realized her final curtain call, her rich legacy and fiery spirit will live on in the confident and poised manner in which we conduct ourselves, stay true to our convictions, and pursue our wildest dreams.
As Grace would say, "Shoot for the moon so you will land among the stars; may the future bring you the best of everything!" Our hope is that her words and countless teachings will continue to inspire you just as they do us.
Thank you for joining us, her family, in celebrating the drama that is the regal and majestic life of Maria Grace Ynostrosa in all its marvelous splendor for together "we will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind".
