MariaElena Newton, age 39, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021. She was born on November 5, 1981 in San Antonio, Texas, as the eldest child to Robert and Graciela Newton. MariaElena is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Juan J. Martinez, Jr.

MariaElena is survived by her parents, Robert A. Newton and Grace M. Newton; sons, Geovannie Sotelo, Michael Sotelo; siblings, Ernest Newton (Gwen), Robert Newton Jr. (Yerania), Jerry Newton (Angela), Hortensia Newton, Eddie Newton; niece Evelyn Newton; nephew Gabriel Newton; maternal grandmother Hortensia Martinez; numerous loving family members and friends.

MariaElena lived her life to the fullest each day with her primary focus always to support her two sons in every way possible. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She was very active in her church and considered her time with her church family to be a blessing. MariaElena was very creative. She enjoyed designing and making her unique ideas come to life in her handcrafted jewelry.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2021, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Castillo Mission Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5:30 P.m.

Services will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021, with a viewing at 9:00 a.m. followed by a church service at 10:00 a.m. at Born Again Ministries located at 4071 N. Foster Road, San Antonio, Texas 78244.

Interment to follow at Gonzales Cemetery. Burial Service attendance is limited to immediate family members due to COVID-19 restrictions.
