Mario Morales Riojas, 87, of San Antonio, Texas (originally of Piedras Negras, Coah., Mexico) was called home by the lord on March 28, 2020. He was born on January 10, 1933, in Piedras Negras, Coah., MX. Mario was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, and friend. He was a devoted Catholic and participated in numerous organizations of his Parish and Archdiocese. Mario was a Cursillista and founding member of the Texas "Movimiento Familiar Cristiano." His humor and smile will be missed by countless persons.
Mario is survived by three sons; Mario Alberto and wife – Estela - of Uvalde, Texas; Jesus Armando and wife – Rachel - of San Antonio, and Carlos Alonzo also of San Antonio; and sisters Rosa Elia Recio and Ofelia Zapata. He is also survived by five grandsons and two granddaughters along with five great-grand sons, six great-granddaughters, and one great-great-grand daughter. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Hermelinda Jimenez de Morales and will be interned with her at the San Fernando Cemetery #2. He is also preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and countless extended family members.
A family Rosary-Viewing will be held from 9 to 10 AM. A viewing will take place at the Castillo Funeral Home; 520 N. General McMullen Drive; San Antonio, Texas on April 7, 2020, from 10 to Noon. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at San Martin de Porres; 1715 Dahlgreen Street; San Antonio, Texas, at 1 PM followed by his burial at the San Fernando Cemetery #2. Due to the current national health situation, friends and extended family are not invited to attend nor participate at this time. The Family will plan a follow up event in the future, once this national health situation has subsided.
