Mary I. Flores, 78, was called to be with our Lord on Saturday, May 23, 2020 in San Antonio, TX, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born to Julian Ortiz Alejo and Maria De Jesus Vela on October 4, 1941 in Rio Grande, TX.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jesse A. Flores; her sister Marcela Gasca; her daughters Christina Flores Whorton (Clifford Whorton), Bertha Flores Regalado, Leticia Flores Gamboa, and daughter-in-law Baerbel E. Flores; her nine Grandchildren, thirteen Great-Grandchildren, and two Great-Great-Grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, & friends.

She is preceded in death by her son, Jose Flores; sisters Jovita Ramirez, Josie Garza; brothers Juan Alvarez, Margarito Alvarez, Lupe Alejo, and Tony Alvarez.

Mary loved dancing, making jewelry, cooking for all of the family, playing scratch off tickets and doing numerous crafts. She also loved praying the Devine Mercy Chaplet and attending Mass services. She was a member of her Church community organizations, On the Way, Andale! and De Colores at Corazon De Maria. She was a devout Daughter of God and always prayed for everyone.

Visitation will be held at Castillo Mission Funeral Home 520 N. General McMullen on Sunday, May 31, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. On Monday, June 1, 2020, the Funeral Procession will depart at 9:00 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection at Christ the King Catholic Church 2610 Perez St. with interment to follow at MeadowLawn Cemetery 5611 E. Houston St.
