Obituary

With a heavy heart, the family announces that Mary Lou Dela Rosa was called by our Lord on June 13, 2026. She passed away in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by those who followed her until the end. Known as “Licho” by her family and friends, she lived a long, faith-filled, beautiful life of 90 years. She embraced the time she had with her strength, faith, and perseverance.

She is preceded by her parents, Juanita and Daniel Olivares. She will also be reunited with her late brothers, Benjamin, Ruben, Jorge, Roberto, and Guillermo, as well as her sister, Josefina Valdez. She is survived by her only living brother, David Olivares, and by five living sisters-in-law, Antonia, Rosa, Raquel, Gloria and Diana. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Licho was known as the “hat lady,” often seen at many events wearing a festive hat. She attended Church at several parishes, including St Mary's Catholic Church, The Little Flower Basilica, St Jude, and others. Her Catholic Faith kept her anchored in hope and in the desire to help others whenever she could. She was also a member of the Altar Society at St. Mary's Catholic Church for several years. She was known to attend weekly, if not daily, Mass and to have a devotion to the Rosary.

Mary Lou possessed a wonderful talent for spreading joy through her singing, which truly reflected her soulful spirit. The happiness she carried in her heart was evident in her music. She was known to brighten any room and to pick up a tune in the doctor's office. Her laughter, kindness, and positive outlook touched many lives. Throughout her many illnesses and challenges, Mary Lou continued forward with courage, God's grace, and deep faith.

The Family dearly believes she would greatly embrace your prayers and attendance at her services. God bless you all.

Sharing a few of her sayings “El gusto fue mío” “Confía en Dios”

Bendiciones.
