Obituary

Mary Lou Mata, 69, wife of Oscar C Mata, went to be with the Lord on February 10, 2024, at her residence in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on October 17, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, a daughter of the late, Lucia P. Mosqueda and Marino Mosqueda.

Mary led a remarkable life filled with her passions and accomplishments. She dedicated her life to the family she loved so much. She was known for her love of dancing, listening to music and watching lifetime movies. Mary was deeply respected by her peers and family. She will be missed and remembered forever.

In addition to her parents, Lucia P. Mosqueda and Marino Mosqueda, she is also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Alvarez; brother's in law, Armando Mata and Ruben Colunga; and father-in-law, Francisco Matta.

Family members include her husband of 49 years Oscar C. Mata; children, Oscar (Lydia Denise) Mata Jr, Rene (Stephanie Lynn) Mata and Victoria (Allen) Gonzales; 13 grandchildren, Gabriella Mata, Elizabeth Mata, Vincent Mata, Amber Skye Granado, Xander Mata, Madelynn Mata, Rene Mata Jr, Cassandra Mata, Renesmee Mata, Dallas Mata, Jennean Gonzales, Nicole Gonzales and Tiffany Gonzales; 2 great-grandchildren; Mallory Mendoza and Leland Mendoza; siblings, Josie (Charlie) Martinez, Helen (Juan) Escobedo, Gloria (Ramiro) Garza, Richard Mosqueda (Irma Sifuentes) and David (Patricia) Mosqueda; mother in law, Florinda Matta; sister's in law, Isabel Gomez, Gregoria Tobias, Blanca Arredondo, Rosalinda Gonzalez, Irma Alvarez, Belinda Alvarez, Diana Gonzalez, Rebecca Hernandez and Darline Martinez; and many nieces and nephews and extended family members.

The family will receive guests in Castillo Funeral Home on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm for visitation and at 6:00 pm for a rosary service.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, Feb 23, 2024, in the Castillo Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 am. Burial will follow with a graveside service in St Marys Cemetery, Somerset, Texas
