Mary G. Mendoza passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at the age of 94 years old, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 31, 1931.
She was preceded in death by her parents Victor and Juanita Garcia, and her siblings. Reunited with her husband Manuel M. Mendoza Sr. and son Manuel G. Mendoza Jr. in heaven.
Mary met her childhood sweetheart Manuel M. Mendoza at a young age, they got married in 1953 and began their future and had 2 children. Mary loved being involved at Immaculate Heart of Mary church, she was a member of Guadalupana club, and Cristo Rey club. She loved spending time with friends and family at the house. Mary survived stomach cancer in 1992 and watched her only granddaughter grow. Her hobbies were going to Estellas Mexican restaurant to listen to the Mariachis, socializing and dancing on the dance floor. Her favorite song was "La Charanga" by Fandango USA, and the "Jitterbug" by Glenn Miller. Her final days were painting, playing Bingo with her great grandkids and watching novelas with her daughter and grand-daughter.
Mary is loved and will be missed by her daughter Norma Hernandez, her son in law Raul Hernandez, her only Granddaughter; Victoria M. Nixon and her husband Justin-Ryan Nixon followed by her great grandchildren Scott-Collin Nixon (8) and Jude-Harrison Nixon (4) and her sister in law Olga Garcia and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
She will be greatly missed by family, she was a wife, a mom, a grandma, a great grandma, tia, sister in law and friend.
Funeral service will be held at Castillo funeral home (520 N. General McMullen San Antonio TX 78228) on Tuesday February 3rd, 2026 visitation: 4pm-8pm Rosary: 6pm
