Obituary

Mary Elva R. Sierra, widow of Ernest H. Sierra Jr., went to be with the Lord on November 15, 2023, at her residence in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 78. She was born on September 26, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, a daughter of the late Julia C. Ramos and Edward G. Ramos.

Prior to her retirement she was employed with Audie Murphy Hospital. Mary lived a life guided by love and faith. As a wife she loving and protective, always placing the needs of her husband above her own. As a mother, she was the best any child could ask for, always present and attentive to the needs of her children. As a grandmother she made sure to always bring a smile to their faces. As a sister, she was someone to be counted on from the beginning. She loved playing bunco and could often be found outside tending to her flower beds. Her generosity was boundless, and she would help anyone in need with encouragement, support and guidance. Her passing leaves a void that will be filled with remembered joy. Until we all meet again, we love you.

In addition to her husband of 45 years, Ernest H. Sierra Jr., and her parents, Julia C. Ramos and Edward G. Ramos, she is also preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth R. Sierra, a sister, Amelia C. Ramos and three brothers, Emilino C. Ramos, Cruz C. Ramos and Edward C. Ramos.

Family members include her son, Ernest R. Sierra III (Donna); 4 grandchildren, Christopher M. Sierra, Alyssa Y. Sierra, Nicholas R. Sierra and Julianna R. Sierra; siblings, Rafaela R. Summers, Hector C. Ramos, Camillo C. Ramos, Esperanza R. Serna, Santiago C. Ramos, Carmen R. Llanas, Santa R. Garza and Yolanda C. Ramos; in addition to numerous extended family.

The family will receive guests at Castillo Funeral Home on Monday, November 27, 2023, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm for visitation and for a rosary service at 6:00 pm.

A funeral mass will be conducted on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 10:00 am in San Juan De Los Lagos Catholic Church. Burial will follow with a graveside service at San Fernando Cemetery II.
