Miguel Gonzalez
Jr.
October 23, 1942 – November 23, 2023
Miguel Gonzalez Jr, 81, widower of Soyla A. Gonzalez, went to be with the Lord on November 23, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on October 23, 1942, in Brownsville, Texas, a son of the late Esperanza R. Gonzalez and Miguel Gonzalez.
Miguel lived a life guided by service, love and faith.
He served proudly in the United States Air Force and often recalled his service as some of his most informative and proudest early years . Especially his 18 month tour in Europe. Miguel would continue to support his country in other ways and for many years he worked as a GSR contractor.
Being born and raised in Brownsville, Texas, he loved the beach, He enjoyed taking pictures, printing them and making all their very own photo album. He would spend time drinking coffee at local coffee shops, doodling at his desk, and keeping everything in order.
As a husband he was protective and nurturing, always placing her needs above his own, taking care of her during her battle with breast cancer effortlessly and was by her side till the end.
He battled liver cancer for 15 years of life and was in remission for the last 8 years of his life from lung cancer; but never once complained. Always smiling and promised all who asked that he was doing great.
As a father and grandfather, he was the pillar to our family for many generations. He and his wife were foster parents for five years as well.
He helped and took anyone under his wing that needed him as best as he could and became that father figure they needed, no matter the situation.
His family meant the most to him. He really loved our many large gatherings, joking, and giving advice. He especially loved his children and grandkids; he was the best dad and grandpa anyone could ask for, always present, supportive, encouraging and always made things better.
His generosity was boundless, he was so giving, caring, and would give the shirt off his back.
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
Timothy 2 verse 4
He will be missed and remembered beyond measure every day, until we are all reunited once again.
