Miguel D. Salas, lovingly known as "Mike," was born on September 29, 1949, in Laredo, Texas. He passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, in New Braunfels, Texas.
Miguel grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where he built the foundation of a life defined by hard work, dedication, and deep love for his family. From the age of 18, he worked as a truck driver, a career he remained committed to throughout his life. His strong work ethic, dependability, and perseverance earned him the respect of all who knew him.
Outside of work, Miguel cherished life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing and was well known for being a great barbecue cook, often bringing family and friends together with good food, laughter, and lasting memories. He will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones.
Miguel was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel Salas, Sr. and Esperanza D. Salas; his son, Miguel Salas, Jr.; and his brothers, Miguel (Katie), Juan Jose, Oscar, and David.
He is survived by his loving partner, Sandra Arroyo; his children, Roland Salas, Armando Salas (Norma), and Maria Esperanza Aguilar (Benjamin); his stepchildren, Gina Camarillo and Elizabeth; and his brothers and sisters, Robert Salas (Alicia), Gloria Salazar (Hector), Sara Salas, and Mario Salas (Camilo).
Miguel was a proud and devoted grandfather to Kristen Moreno (Abel), Xavier Castillo (Angelica), Julia Salas (Daniel), Alyssa Castillo, Joshua Salas, Alicia Salas (Daniel), Victoria Castillo, Miguel Castillo, Leslie Salas, Emiley Salas, Jacob Salas,Jeremiah Aguilar, Jewel Aguilar, Christopher Pedroza, Joseph Rodriguez, Jonathon Rodriguez, Matthew Rodriguez, Michael Rodriguez, Jayden Camarillo, Makayla Medina, and Vivianna Camarillo.
He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Aiden Moreno, Aria Moreno, Katalina Moreno, Alexander Castillo, Esmeralda Castillo, Joaquin Castillo, Ezra Castillo, Mateo Brown, and Guinnevere Brown, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Miguel is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom he loved dearly and who will continue to cherish his memory.
Miguel leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, strong family values, and enduring bonds that will continue to live on through the many generations he held close to his heart.
Services will be held at Castillo Funeral Home, located at 520 N. General McMullen Dr., San Antonio, Texas 78228.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m.
A chapel service will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., with departure to the cemetery at 10:00 a.m. for burial at San Fernando Cemetery II, located at 746 Castroville Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78237.

May he be reunited with his parents, his son, and his brothers
