Mike Mejia
Jr.
October 24, 1934 – July 18, 2020
The Lord called Mike home in a peaceful manner on Saturday, July 18, 2020. He was 85 years old. This gentle, loving, wonderful man has left a permanent mark in the hearts of many who will be especially missed by his loving wife, Alice, of 59 years, and his children Michelle Garcia (Orlando Sr.) and Melissa Mejia (Gilbert).
He treasured his family and was a proud grandfather to Stephanie (Hector), Orlando Jr. (Kristine), Natasha, Alisha, Brittany, Jessica (Orlando), and Brianna. He cherished his role of great grandfather to, Jayleigh, Berlynn, Easton, Adalynn, Ryan. His favorite hobbies included watching old movies, and all spectator type of sports, travelling, barbecuing, and spending time in his garage.
Born in San Antonio, Mike spent his life as a hardworking dedicated and faithful man whose faith and love of God never wavered. He retired from Kelly AFB after 20 years of employment. Prior to that he worked for VIA as a bus driver for many years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Mike Mejia Sr. and Santos Mejia, his brothers, Raymond, Joe, and Manuel. He is Survived by his Brother, Alfred, and sister Yolanda. He will be truly missed by his sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank the health care staff from Good Shepard Hospice for their great care the last couple of months of his life.
Mike will forever be remembered for his caring heart, his smile, gentle eyes, unconditional love and for being a jokester who took great pleasure in having anyone laugh at his jokes. Although our hearts are breaking, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us.
*IMPORTANT*
The Funeral Services will be on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at 3:00 PM CST at Castillo Mission. Due to Covid-19 we are only allowed a certain number of people in the chapel and at the cemetery; therefore, we will only be having Mike's immediate family in attendance.
For his extended family and wonderful friends, a FB event has been created to access, and may watch live.
