Minerva
Ibarra
August 10, 1928 – May 13, 2020
Minerva "Minnie" Ibarra passed in peace surrounded by the warmth and love of her children and family on May 13, 2020. She was 91 years old and born in San Antonio, TX on August 10, 1928.
As the heart and soul of the Ibarra family, Minnie led a strong matriarchal role and dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Minnie instilled her strength and bravery into her children, which led to 4 veteran sons. She proved her independence and dedication by providing for her youngest children working as the head cook for SAISD for many years. Her strength and tenacity for life kept her going and enabled her to beat breast cancer twice at the age of 85. Minnie loved and cherished the sound of slot machines and playing bingo. If Minnie wasn't talking on the phone with her sisters, nieces, or the bingo ladies, you were sure to find her playing bingo. She had a great sense of humor and love for everyone. We will remember her laugh, her warmth, her hustle, her love for her family and friends, and her big heart.
Minerva is preceded in death by Ascencion Ibarra (WWII Veteran); sons, Daniel Ibarra and Alejandro Ibarra; Grandson, Alex Ibarra, Jr.; parents, Manuel and Feliz Arriaga, and Lorenzo "Lencho" Zamora.
Minerva is loved and will be deeply missed by sons, Armando (Dalia) Ibarra, Albert (Martha) Ibarra, and David (Darlene) Ibarra; daughters, Cynthia (Robert) Vallejo and Belinda Zamora; daughter in law, Gloria Ibarra; sisters, Susie Perez and Elida Mireles; brother, Jessie Arriaga; 27 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren and numerous friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2020 at Castillo Funeral Home from 11am to 1pm for the immediate family only. Friends and family may pay their respects from 1-3 pm. A rosary will be held at 3pm for the immediate family only. (Due to Covid-19 no more than 25 people are allowed at one time and everyone must wear a mask)
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Castillo Funeral Home at 10 am with procession to follow to San Fernando Cemetery III for the immediate family only. The Ibarra Family is deeply saddened that not everyone is able to celebrate the life of Minerva Ibarra and gives their heart felt gratitude to everyone for understanding during this pandemic.
