Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and sadness that we mourn the passing of Monica "Moni" Chavana.  Moni was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 22, 1970 and went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2021 at age 50. She is preceded in death by the love of her life Neil Anthony Ybarra.  Moni is survived by her parents Humberto Q. Chavana and Gloria Jean Chavana. Moni is also survived by her brothers Humberto M. (Monica) Chavana, Marcus R. Chavana, David (Kathryn) Chavana.  Her nephews Brandon C Chavana, Fabian Aaron Ybarra, Darron Ybarra and niece's Amber M Chavana, Faith I. Martinez, Magdalene G. Chavana, Heaven Aguilar, Darlene Rodarte, Abby Ybarra Ramirez and Jennifer Maxwell McGarity were her pride and joy and she will be lovingly remembered by them.

Moni was very committed to her family and friends and will be greatly missed by them and everyone who knew her. Moni was a very devoted employee at San Antonio Independent School District for over 30 years and worked with the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation and Greater San Antonio Afterschool Allstars for Summer and After School Programs. Moni truly had a passion and dedication for working with children and greatly loved each student she crossed paths with. The family would like to extend their gratitude for all the prayers and visits they have received.

Visitation will be held at Castillo Mission Funeral Home on Friday July 23, 2021 from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM with the Rosary being held at 6:00 PM. On Saturday, July 24, 2021 we will depart Castillo Funeral Home at 9:30 am for a Mass to be held at Holy Family Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Interment to San Jose Burial Park.
