Obituary

Norma B. Salinas, born on February 26, 1961, passed into eternal rest on August 3, 2021, while her mother and sister prayed by her bedside and held her hand. Norma was the 11th child of 13 siblings, and graduated from McAllen High School in 1980 where she was a member of the Bulldog Backers. After high school, Norma worked at Levi Strauss for over 10 years, and also worked for Mexicana Airlines, but ultimately Norma retired from The City Public Service of San Antonio.
Norma's favorite Hobby was the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) where she enjoyed learning historical embroidery and cooking.  She was known for her willingness to help anyone and everyone.
Norma had been battling a chronic illness for about 8 years but she never gave up on life. Her smile could warm the heart of anyone she loved.
Norma's greatest love was her family; especially her 3 sons and 5 grandchildren. She would give her last dime for those she loved.
Norma is reunited in Heaven with her father, Salvador G. Salinas; Sisters Englantina Ramos and Maria Elena Zambrano; brothers Salvador Salinas Jr. (+Laura), Abel Salinas (Nilda Jean); maternal grandparents Juan Berrones & Francisca Vasquez; and paternal grandparents Martimiano Salinas & Francisca Gutierrez
Norma is survived by:  her husband Edward Gene Szettella of San Antonio; her sons Christopher Jake Salinas (Claudia) of Grovetown Georgia, Nathaniel Jonah Szettella of San Antonio, and Edmond Joseph Szettella of San Antonio; grandchildren Trajan Jake Salinas, Tyler Dean Salinas, Elysia Jayne Salinas of Grovetown Georgia, Jualian Gomez-Gonzalez , and Todd Leon Szettella of San Antonio; mother Josefina Berrones Salinas of McAllen, TX; siblings Yolanda Munoz (Roberto) of McAllen TX, Martimiano Salinas (Yolanda) of Blackfoot Idaho, Armandina Cardenas of McAllen, Tx, Josephina Briones (Francisco) of Alamo, Tx,Maria Agapita Villarreal of McAllen Tx, Mario Salinas (Guadalupe) of Pharr, Tx, Luis Salinas (Natalie) of Canyon Lake, Tx, and Emma Salinas of San Antonio.
Norma had over 80 Nieces and Nephews as well as over 100 great nieces and nephews and even some great-great nieces and nephews and many friends whom she considered chosen family.
Norma was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at Castillo Mission Funeral Home, 520 N. General McMullen Drive, San Antonio, TX 78228, on Saturday, August 7, 2021, from 12 Noon until 5 p.m.  A Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m.

VISITATION: Monday, August 9, 2021, Rivera Funeral Home , from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.

FUNERAL MASS & BURIAL : Funeral Procession departs the Funeral Home at 9:30 Tuesday, August 10, 2021, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church , with interment to follow at Roselawn Cemetery .
