Obituary

Olivia Vasquez was born November 8, 1937 in her lifelong and beloved hometown of San Antonio, Texas. In Olivia's special life, she was loved and embraced by 12 step brothers and sisters throughout her life. At a beautiful time, at age 19, she married the love of her life, Santiago "Chano" Gutierrez Guzman. Although "Chano" had a strong love and devotion to Olivia, he would call her a "bulldog" from time-to-time because she was a proud graduate of Burbank High School, the home of her alma mater's mascot - the bulldogs. During their legendary 63-year marriage, they both raised and nurtured nine children. Once her children started building foundations of independence and adulthood, Olivia took her passion of developing young people to Terrell Wells Middle School in San Antonio. There, Olivia worked and retired as an instructional aide. During her 18-year career, she developed and inspired hundreds of young Texans. As God as our witness, she was pivotal to a number of her students living proud and positive lives.

Her Interest included road trips to many parts of her beloved Lone Star State, conquering crossword puzzles, cooking and baking for all she loved - especially her pink cookies - and talking about all the "chisme" with her lovely friends at the gym. In Olivia's special way, she loved her children and took her love to the next level by spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

By the grace of God, Olivia was preceded in death by her fourth son Steven Guzman.

Our beloved Olivia was survived by her eternally loving husband, she called "Honey". Her loving children (and their spouses) Santiago Jr "Jimmy" (Delfina), Raymond "Ray", David (Donna), Phillip (Janie), Andrew, Linda, Henry (Sarah), and Julie (Paul). Olivia was also blessed by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Olivia Vasquez Guzman, loved and cherished by countless family and friends, went home to be with our Lord and her beloved son Steven on Mother's Day, May 9, 2021, at the age of 83
