Roberto Vasquez
January 16, 1958 – March 3, 2024
Oscar Roberto Vasquez, aged 66, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2024, at home. He was born on January 16, 1958, in Laredo, Texas to Enrique Vasquez Sr. And Delia Cedillo Vasquez. He was the sixth of eleven children and loved growing up with his large family. He was a 1976 graduate of Laredo Martin High School. He was a proud resident of San Antonio where dedicated 22 years of service to the city of San Antonio Solid Waste Management Department. His goal was to achieve 25 years with the city but that was cut short due to a serious work accident injury which required him to retire sooner. This injury required two brain surgeries and lengthy health recoveries. Oscar, however, did not let this deter his outlook on life. Oscar was very outgoing and loved exploring and trying new experiences. He is remembered for displaying wonderful problem-solving skills, gardening, and maintaining well-trimmed lawns, his love of fishing, devotion to family and friends, and his ability to make anyone smile and laugh, as well as for his unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Oscar is preceded in death by his parents Enrique Vasquez Sr. And Delia Cedillo Vasquez, and his son Michael Jay Vasquez "Mikey".
Oscar is survived by his three children, Oscar (Lupita) Vasquez Jr., Melissa (Jay) Jones, and Felipe Gabriel (Ana) Vasquez; and grandchildren Kayla Cato " Zachary Cato", Hailey Brooks, Jake Vasquez, Gabriel Vasquez, Victoria Vasquez, Adaleena Vasquez, and Greatgrandchildren Kayson Cato and Rhett Medina. He is also survived by his siblings Diana (Daniel) Perez, Enrique (Melinda) Vasquez, Odette Perkins, Rodolfo (Adela) Vasquez, Javier Vasquez, George Vasquez, Esther Gurrero, Nora (Daniel) Garcia, Yvonne Nunez, and Michael (Christina) Vasquez. He is also survived by 29 nieces and nephews, as well as numerous cousins.
Family, friends, and others are invited to the Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N. General McMullen – San Antonio, TX 78228, Visitation from 4:00-8:00 PM and Rosary at 6:00 PM on March 12, 2024. Funeral Mass at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
All are welcome to attend and to reminisce and honor the life of Oscar "Rambo". Though he has bid farewell to this world, the love and guidance he shared will forever echo in our hearts, a timeless legacy of a brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend will be cherished and deeply missed.
