Pah Reh
(Peh)
January 1, 1973 – March 19, 2022
Pah Reh (Peh) was born to Mi Reh and Tay Moh in Muhtawkhu Village, Loikaw, Kayah State, Burma on April 15, 1973, and died at home in San Antonio on March 19, 2022. As a teenager and young man, he helped with the family farm in Burma, and met his wife Tu Meh at a festival in Kayah State. As a result of government oppression against the Karenni people, Peh Reh moved to Thailand at about age 20. It was there that he and Tu Meh celebrated their lifelong commitment in a traditional ceremony on May 30, 1995, and where they celebrated the Sacrament of Matrimony on January 1, 2002. Peh Reh worked as a chef and also did odd jobs for Thai business owners, and Tu Meh worked as a teacher. They lived sometimes in the city of Mae Hong Son and sometimes in Refugee Camp #1. Their three daughters were born in Thailand. The family moved to San Antonio on August 1, 2009, where they have made a permanent home. As part of his processing to be a United States resident, he became known as Pah Reh, born on January 1, 1973. Pah Reh was a faithful member of St Matthew Catholic Church in San Antonio, where he was baptized as a Catholic and received First Holy Communion on June 25, 2011. He was a production worker at the Tyson Chicken Factory in Seguin for 12 years. He was the first Karenni to get a job at Tyson and the first carpool driver. Pah Reh was fluent in 5 Asian languages. He enjoyed swimming, cooking, fixing things around the house, and travelling. He was always generous, donating goods and time to anyone in need. His motto was, "If you do good, good will come back to you." He will be remembered as a community leader for the Burmese people in San Antonio, and as a beautiful husband and father.
Pah Reh is survived by his wife Tu Meh, his daughters Soe Meh (Htun Htun), Me Meh, and Tay Moh, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 26 at 11 am at St Matthew Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio TX, 78230, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 12 noon. Interment will be immediately after at Eastview Cemetery, 3550 Roland Rd, San Antonio TX 78210.
