Pete
Serna
March 4, 1944 – December 17, 2021
Pete Serna, 77, born and raised in San Antonio, Texas on March 4, 1944, passed away on December 17, 2021, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family and friends.
As many know Pete was well known for his delicious barbeque. Cooking was his absolutely passion and if you mentioned grilling or even meats he could sit and talk for hours about all the knowledge he has learned over the many years. We believe his knowledge on meats and his cooking fascination started as a young adult when he was employed by Cudahy Stockyards meatpacking plant. From this point on he branched out to a few more other plants and then decided he would even start his own catering business which is where he got his name Pipiri Pao. Although he loved the extra "coins" he made from his catering, he would also make plates and deliver them to neighbors, family, and friends out of kindness because at the end of the day he had the biggest heart and was always willing to give back or pay it forward. His love for his family and friends was everything and we will forever cherish all the memories made. He had many passions throughout life, but he was overall a simple man, and his kind of perfect day would be some football, old western movies, or a beautiful day out on his porch with a cold Modelo. "Qvo!!"
Pete was preceded in death by his parents Pedro M. Serna and Amalia P. Serna, and sons, Javier and Roland Serna. He is survived by his loving wife, Georgie Serna; children, Norma Jean Tejeda (Steve), Pedro Serna III, Rudy Castro (Buddy), Cynthia Serna Castro, Pete Serna Jr. (Liz), Debora Castro (Frank), and Patricia Serna. Also survived by his brothers Arthur Serna (Deanna), John Garcia (Diana), and Fred Garcia (Celia) along with numerous grandkids, great grandkids, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, former spouses and friends.
